Mercy Flight Inc. is pleased to announce that it was awarded a grant from The Margaret L. Wendt Foundation in the amount of $96,000. The generous gift, authorized by the Trustees of the Foundation, will support the funding of an Advanced Life Support Fly Car. This paramedic response vehicle is crucial to Mercy Flight’s mission of rapid response and compassionate medical care when minutes matter.

The grant allows for Mercy Flight to purchase and outfit one fly car, adding to a fleet of six current fly cars. The use of paramedic response vehicles lessens the time between an accident, incident or onset of a critical illness, and ensures delivery of essential advanced life support services. The vehicles are vital to improving the medical treatment that trauma victims receive immediately following an incident – ultimately optimizing survival and recovery.

“We are so grateful to The Margaret L. Wendt Foundation for understanding the importance of our mission and supporting it once again,” says Vice President of Finance Scott Wooton. “The new Paramedic Fly Car that will be acquired with this very generous grant will undoubtedly create improved patient outcomes throughout Mercy Flight’s ground ambulance service area for many years to come.”

Mercy Flight extends its sincere appreciation to The Margaret L. Wendt Foundation for a commitment to bringing expert and compassionate medical care to the Western New York region and beyond.
