On a fall morning in 1999, I was out jogging when a man in a pick-up truck ran a red light and hit me. When the accident happened, the Mercy Flight crew was just returning from a false alarm at a nearby location. David Vasquez, Chief of the Reserve Fire Company in West Seneca, called them immediately. The crew arrived in record time and because my injuries were so severe - head trauma, a shattered pelvis, fractured ribs, and a collapsed lung - Mercy Flight airlifted me to ECMC.
It took only 19 minutes from the time of impact to the time of delivery to the emergency room and I know it was Mercy Flight's fast work that saved my life. I am so thankful to the staff and pilots at Mercy Flight who were there for me at a very crucial time in my life. My husband and I are so lucky that this dedicated team of professionals is stationed in Western New York!
