PILOTS All Mercy Flight pilots are highly skilled and have excellent safety records. The average Mercy Flight pilot has been flying helicopters for more than 26 years, and has more than 8,000 hours of flight time.

FLIGHT MEDICS, NURSES & DOCTORS In addition to first-rate pilots, our medical crewmembers are also top-notch. Our flight paramedics all have at least two years or more of high call volume EMS experience, and our flight nurses all have several years of ED and/or ICU experience. Both paramedics and nurses are required to maintain current credentials in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Basic Trauma Life Support (BTLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS). Our medical crewmembers also operate under a strict set of medical protocols and are required to meet continuing medical education requirements, and are continually evaluated through a comprehensive quality management program. MEDICS
COMMUNICATIONS SPECIALISTS The heart of any air-medical operation is its communications center, and Mercy Flight is no exception. Our dispatch center is staffed 24 hours a day by dedicated communications specialists. These professionals maintain a minimum of EMT-B certification, and are required to have several years of EMS experience. They are responsible for fielding, prioritizing, and dispatching incoming flight requests, which involves assigning calls to the most appropriate of our three aircrafts and coordinating missions with ground units and hospitals.
