Guiding Principles

To continually realize our role as Western New York's non-profit provider of air medical transport and supporting services, Mercy Flight relies on nine Guiding Principles. Those principles are:

Patient Focus - Mercy Flight focuses on what is most beneficial for the patient without creating hardships of any kind and honors each patient's right to privacy, dignity, and confidentiality.

Integrity and Honesty - Integrity and honesty help ensure that the public and providers/referrers can rely upon Mercy Flight to deliver as promised and needed.

Neutrality - Mercy Flight does not advocate for, promote, or affiliate with any single health care delivery system.

Clinical Excellence - Mercy Flight accepts only the highest standards of service delivery. Medical direction and appropriately trained personnel shall be available for all medical transportation of critically ill or injured patients.

Safety - Safety is a primary consideration; unreasonable risks are never taken.

Readiness - Mercy Flight is always prepared and ready to respond appropriately.

Respect - Mercy Flight respects the value and potential of each individual as offering a significant contribution to the good of the whole organization.

Community Partnership - Mercy Flight works in concert with regional emergency medical systems, including hospitals, trauma centers, ground EMS, law enforcement and fire officials, solely for the benefit of the communities and patients we serve. We promote the concept of a unified community response for all emergency medical services.

Fiduciary Obligation - Mercy Flight accepts its obligation to use public and contributed dollars in a cost-effective manner, and is accountable to the public for the use of those funds.
